The above poster reflects once again: Why I Cannot Support Hillary Clinton
The verdant hills, forests and lakes of Kodaikanal — a popular tourist destination in South India — hides a toxic secret. Unsafe practices of handling and disposing hazardous material at Unilever’s thermometer factory has contaminated the region and exposed hundreds of workers to toxic mercury. Once released into the environment, mercury can cause various symptoms, among them: ‘birth defects, memory loss, organ failures [kidney, liver, reproductive, etc.]’.
Claiming that “There were no adverse effects on the health of the employees or the environment“, Unilever continues to deny responsibility for illnesses suffered by the ex-workers and their families, many of whom died or became physically handicapped as a result of mercury poisoning.

Here is an interesting summary of the 2015 GOP candidates (dubbed clown car) and their message of “Fear and Loathing” of the ‘other’. To sum up their message is: “We hate the Mexicans (immigrants), Muslims, Gays, etc… they’re all coming to rape / kill us or in the case of homosexuals maybe force us to marry them?… If by any chance though you are a woman who is raped and now pregnant, you are duty bound to carry the pregnancy to term, because the GOP is “Pro Life” (in other words anti choice for women) and will defund Planned Parenthood even though Planned Parenthood already cannot use federal funds to cover abortions. Encouraged by a friend of mine, I decided to pen the story of my love / hate relationship with chocolate. Growing up, I loved eating “brood met muisjes”, a common Dutch breakfast of bread with chocolate sprinkles…
Sugar: sweet, addictive and poisonous to our health / the environment. The documentary below illustrates that from its roots in the slave trade, to today’s exploitation of workers in the Dominican Republic and elsewhere, sugar can be called the “toxic crop of tears.”

In a society where junk food, such as a twinkie is cheaper than a nutrient dense carrot, we can clearly see that our food system is broken.
In the video below, Michael Pollan explains why schools feed children ‘junk’…
